Project Description

Nestled in a valley below the San Francisco Peaks lies a beautiful single story home. The sprawling house stands out in the scattered neighborhood, being the only ‘log home’ in sight. A beautiful mountain forest surrounds the mellow valley which includes the home’s horse stable and chicken coop. The extensive radiant heated concrete driveway gives way to a large two car garage and expansive patio that flows into the foundation and 3ft wall of rock that surrounds the entire home. The hand-laid rocks then give way to Better Than Logs Hand Hewn Concrete Log Siding With Flange (HH12WF), that gives it a distinct log home feel finished with chinking and the protection and reliability a home owner residing in Northern Arizona needs and wants. Better Than Logs Hand Hewn Concrete Siding meets gable ends sided with real wood Better Than Logs Hand Hewn Siding With Flange (HH12WF) with chinking that meets up with hand laid stone board and batten and real wood shiplap siding under the eves. These siding choices did not come from Better Than Logs, but compliment the Better Than Logs siding very nicely. The backyard patio is shadowed by a large steep peaked roof providing an immense amount of character to the home. The large patio gives way to the homeowner’s garden, who was “very impressed” with the siding purchased from Better Than Logs. Gable Ends are finished with real wood Board and Batten and eves are finished with real wood Shiplap siding. These aren’t affiliated but match well with Better Than Logs Siding. Better Than Logs Corner Trim (CTR6 & CTR8) running vertically at each exterior corner offering a clean finish to Better Than Logs Hand Hewn Siding She went on to tell a story of how her “insurance company came by and thought it was real wood, then went up to touch it and found out that it was actually concrete. They couldn’t believe it wasn’t real wood,” she laughed. The kitchen protrudes outward with complicated geometry and large windows that allow for lots of incoming natural light, and are trimmed with Better Than Logs Hand Hewn Trim (CTR6). This trim finishes the Hand Hewn look off very well, offering a nice transition from wall to door or window. The corners of the home are graced by vertical Corner Trim, also provided by Better Than Logs (CTR6 & CTR8), to bring the Concrete Siding (HH12WF) together in a finished manner. Finally, mounted on the exterior walls are beautiful rustic light fixtures finishing the home, showing available versatility in using Better Than Logs siding. Virtually anything that can be done in customizing homes with traditional wood siding can be done with Better Than Logs Concrete Log Siding.
